Our Adoption Story

Our hearts were beginning to stir again about adoption. Moriah had been home from Ethiopia for two years and all the girls were getting older. We first began to pray together. Then we met with a social worker because we thought Jesus had us on the foster to adopt route. Then her picture came from my best friend and the comment beneath it, “Pray for Stella. This is Lily’s best friend and she needs a home”.

She was older than we would have considered at that time. So we prayed with fervency for her forever home. We had just lost our fourth baby to miscarriage and my heart was still reeling with pain. Yet, I felt that Jesus was saying “Walk with me, I will heal this wound.” My husband came home from work a few weeks after we had started praying over Stella’s picture, tears falling from his eyes. “She is my daughter. She is a princess. I cannot shake it. She belongs in our family.” He said.
While I was the initiator of our first adoption, I was frozen in fear and uncertainty with the next. This was much further outside of my grid. The unknown far outweighed the known and I was overwhelmed. Jesus met me one Sunday morning by speaking to my heart “She is your restitution for your loss.” He was inviting me to trust.
So we accepted this invitation down a crazy road of adoption…again. Along the way we found out about a precious little boy. We didn’t hesitate this time (we are learning 😉 ). The miracles have been many and the adventures have abounded.
